Celebrating Our SF Educators for Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6th - 10th) is an annual event dedicated to recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of teachers (although, we’d argue that we should keep this celebratory energy year-round!). It's a time to acknowledge their hard work, dedication, and impact on students' lives and communities as a whole. Celebrating this week allows us to express our gratitude and support for the vital role teachers play in shaping future generations.

Aside from a thoughtful teacher appreciation card (which can be given any time, by the way), here are a few other options that teacher’s really love receiving (none of them are gifts)!

• Express Gratitude: It may seem too simple but taking time to give a genuine “thank you” to a teacher can go a long way. Write a card, send an email, or have a quick face-to-face chat and tell them like you mean it!
• Support Classroom Needs: Teachers often spend their own money on classroom supplies. Consider donating supplies or giving gift cards to help alleviate their financial burden.
• Offer Your Time: Volunteer to help out in the classroom or assist with extracurricular activities or field trips. Your support and involvement can make a significant difference in a teacher's workload and the school community.
• Advocate for Education: Use Teacher Appreciation Week as an opportunity to advocate for policies and initiatives that support teachers and education funding in your districts.

Oftentimes, some of the greatest ways to show appreciation, especially for teachers, is not always with traditional gifts. Teacher’s are always in need of resources, volunteers, and advocates. These small acts of support truly have big impacts!
